What inspired you to become an architect?

I was not inspired. Wanted to be a graphics or automotive designer. My Dad facilitated my entry into Architecture School at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Born with a mild pulmonary stenosis. Medical practice at the time drove me out of competitive sports and into other pursuits such as fine and commercial art, cool cars, the beach and eventually architecture.

What are your Interests?

Watching people use space, learning a person’s story, discovering new and unusual materials to use not only in architectural design but automotive design also, sketching/ drawing and building models at all scales up to 1/1.  Growing up in Los Angeles, CA, my first words were “car die” (whatever that meant). I have been car crazy ever since.

What are you passionate about and why?

Working with one’s community rather that simply for one’s community.
